- Prefetching
- I/O design
- Table design
- Index design
- Configuration parameters
- Etc.

- Manage and establish performance objectives
- Review and interpret performance data
- Configure and tune the DB2 UDB system
- Scale the configuration (e.g., Adding a partition(s))
