Summary: After reviewing CICS TS basics, this course focuses on CICS application and performance issues as they relate to the following:
  • Advanced BMS performance options
  • Advanced program switching options
  • VSAM file design and performance
  • Temporary storage vs. transient data design
  • Interval Control (e.g., START/RETRIEVE)
  • Task control
  • Transaction recovery design
  • Problem determination and debugging
  • Threadsafe programming considerations
  • Etc.
Objectives: Upon completion of this mainly hands-on course, the participant should be able to develop pseudo-conversational (or conversational) applications while incorporating the advanced CICS facilities shown under 'Core Topics' in the detailed outline.
